Time to get Active!

I took some real time off to heal and rest after my yoga challenge and the derby season. I feel recharged, refreshed, and, unfortunately, a little squishy (and slow). :( Luckily I kept moving via nature hikes and stretching, but the break has definitely taken it's toll on my overall fitness. I'm going to need some re-conditioning, and I'm already aching to get back into the Bikram studio (with luck one of them will sponsor the Texas Rollergirls).

My teammate, Bloody Mary, has been talking about periodization training, which confuses me, but I believe in the theory (even if it seems a little scary to take it slow). Here is one link I found on periodization training that was helpful (and I love relating stuff to basketball training cause it's my favorite and I think most like derby). http://www.sport-fitness-advisor.com/basketball-training-program.html

I am looking into developing some personal training plans like this with my derby training and schedule in mind. Feel free to share any links or knowledge you have on periodization training. I also think I may need a heart rate monitor, just to be scientific and stuff. ;)
